Elsie Weakley
July 12, 1951 – November 30, 2025
Elsie Weakley passed away on November 30, 2025, at the age of 74, at Orange Park Medical Center.
Born to Edgar and Doris Weakley on July 12, 1951, in Bloomington, Illinois, Elsie was the only daughter among five siblings. She faced the loss of her father at a young age, which made it challenging for her mother, a young widow, to provide for the family. To create a brighter future for Elsie and her youngest brother, her mother sought assistance from Mooseheart. Elsie thrived under Mooseheart's care and guidance, earning her high school diploma and serving as a camp counselor at Camp Ross.
She later worked as a live-in caregiver and cook at a local convent. Eventually, she returned to Mooseheart, where she dedicated the next 36 years of her life as a bus driver, phone operator, and security personnel.
In 2018, Elsie retired to Moosehaven, where she enjoyed activities like playing darts, shuffleboard, and riding her bicycle. A wonderful friend and neighbor to her fellow residents, she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Elsie is survived by her brother, Vernon Weakley of Fairbury, IL, along with the many residents and staff of Moosehaven and Mooseheart.
