Ella Mae McKee, 96, of Green Cove Springs, Fl passed away June 12, 2019. Ella was born March 26, 1923 in Wilkes County, NC.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked in the restaurant business for most of her life. Having owned and operated the El-Ray House in Green Cove Springs for many years. She was a great cook! - then owned and operated a small textile business in GCS, after which she was in the antique business working with Jim ‘Carey’ for many years. She was of the mindset that she wanted to work as long as she was able. Her faith and grace were apparent in her demeanor and attended the Baptist church until health would not allow.

Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond McKee and son, Michael McKee. She is survived by her son, EC Hayes (Priscilla); daughter-in-law, Mary “Cindy” McKee; 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

We’d like to acknowledge our sister-in-law, Cindy, as Mrs. McKee’s caretaker for the past several years. Our families are all very grateful to her and her friend, Hope, who has also been so helpful to Cindy.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Charlie Hunt officiating. Burial following at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
