It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dorothy Agnes Militello, on May 12th, 2026.
Born on June 4th, 1937, in Paterson, New Jersey, Dorothy was the daughter of Ida Mae Lydecker and Peter J. Lydecker. She spent her formative years in the Paterson area, where she later met and married Salvatore Anthony Militello. Together, they built a loving family and shared a lifelong partnership of 66 years.
A licensed hairdresser by profession, Dorothy was renowned for her dedication to both her career and her family. She was a devoted mother to her four children, whose lives she enriched immeasurably. Later, they moved from Paterson to North Haledon, New Jersey, and then in 1987, relocated to Florida.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Deborah (Nick) Militello-Brewer, Carol (Carl) Cifaldi, Joseph (Kimberly) Militello, and Joann Militello. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Dorothy was an active participant in our volunteer ambulance service in New Jersey (Haledon Ambulance) and at Saint Rita’s Catholic Church in Wellington, Florida, where she and Salvatore fulfilled the responsibilities of deacon. She supported children in their holy communion and provided guidance in Bible instruction.
Dorothy is recognized for her consistently positive attitude and earned respect from her colleagues and peers. Her connections with family and friends played a significant role in her life, and she routinely demonstrated selfless behavior. Dorothy will be remembered with high regard by all who had the opportunity to know her.
We will miss you, Mom. We Love you more than words!
