Donna Lee Edelen, age 73, of Orange Park, Florida, gained her wings on January 18, 2023 after an extended illness. Donna was born on September 21, 1949, to parents William M. Compton and Elizabeth Blansit. She was born in Ringgold GA.

Donna and her family moved to Tennessee when she was 13 years old. She graduated from Clinton High School. After high school Donna decided to go to nursing school where she graduated as an LPN. She worked for many years as a nurse and an Activities Director in skilled nursing facilities. She enjoyed enriching the lives of her patients. Donna also received her certification to teach others on becoming activities directors. She will be remembered for helping others. In her late 40’s she decided to go back to school to finish her education. She also wanted to show her children that it is never too late to get your education. Donna also led the Special Olympics program in Oak Harbor, WA from 1980-1984. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Donna is preceded in death by both of her parents William M. Compton and Elizabeth Blansit, brother William Compton, sister Betty Williams and daughter Reagan Burkhardt. Donna is survived by her loving husband, James C. Edelen, Sr, Sister Thelest Stewart (Larry), brother Mike Compton (Nancy). Daughters Holly Hodges, Kaylen Paredes (Johnathan), Dana Burkhardt, Stepson Jamie Edelen. Grandchildren Kennedy Paredes, Hope Tibbitt, John Paredes, Olivia Loner, Gideon Loner, Calvin Loner, Austin Edelen (Christian), Matthew Edelen. Great grandson, Waylon Edelen and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Reverend Daniel Howard officiating.
