Diane King

Diane King was born on February 28th, 1952, in Hahira, GA. She passed away on June 1st, 2025, in Fleming Island, FL, where she had called home for 25 years. In 1978, Diane married her beloved husband, Gene. Together, they would spend the next 47 years living a life full of experiences, partnership, and a steadfast love shared between them. Over those years, they would blend a family—her daughter, Dana; his son, Joey; and later in life, their granddaughter, Shiana.

Diane held many roles in her life—she was the Vice President of TOPS, a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge, and an Eastern Star. She also played on a softball team for Progress Rail, showing her spirited nature and love for activity.

She found joy in attending the Daytona 500 race with Gene. They spent many afternoons together on the lake, enjoying water sports such as water skiing. For a time, the two of them watched the world go by from a windshield view as she traveled with Gene, who was a long-haul truck driver.

She had a fondness for storytelling, with one story in particular—how her daughter came to be nicknamed “Boog”—a favorite that always made people smile.

She also had a special place in her heart for reading, especially mystery novels, as well as watching soap operas. She often watched them alongside Joey. Sunday mornings were a shared joy for them—they would go to Miller’s Grocery, where he was treated to sugar cookies from the bakery.

Later in life, when her granddaughter came along, they spent ample time together. They became avid moviegoers, board game players, and baking partners—Diane always made sure Shiana got to lick the spoon. She also passed on her love for reading to her granddaughter and always encouraged her to keep turning pages and chasing stories.

Above all, Diane was a woman of faith. She was saved by our Lord Jesus Christ on February 25th, 1976, and baptized on March 28th, 1976. Now she rests eternally in the arms of Christ, where she is whole, healed, and at peace.

She will be remembered for her unshakable drive to push on in life, her radiant smile, and the way she lived life to its very limits.

She lives on in memories, in photographs filled with laughter and love, and in the hearts of all those her light shined on. She is survived by her husband, Gene; her children, Dana and Joey; and her granddaughter, Shiana. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen; her father, Carl; her sister, Gloria; and her brothers, Bobby and Ricky.

Though she may be gone from our sight, her light is forever woven into the story of us and all those who are destined to come after.
