Dennis M. Shurgalla, age 76 years, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away June 1, 2026. He was born in St. Louis, MO to John and Ruth (Bogus) Shurgalla in 1950.

He moved to Baltimore, MD in 1962 and graduated from Patterson High School in 1967. He worked for the Social Security Administration for 5 years. He started working for the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for the state of Maryland in 1973. He worked his way up to the Office of Comptroller of the Treasury as a Revenue Tax Examiner IV for over 20 years before retiring with 30 years of service to the state of Maryland in 2003. After retiring he worked in the office of a heating and air conditioning company in Mechanicsville, MD. He and his wife moved to Florida in 2012 to be close to family.

He enjoyed gardening, baseball, and collecting Native American pottery. In later years he loved watching old movies, especially horror films and film noir.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anna K. Shurgalla (Kirk) of Rockdale, MD and his two sons. Michael C. Shurgalla and his wife Melanie of Orange Park, FL and their 5 children; Liam, Nathan, Dylann, Lemon and Samuel. And Stephen T. Shurgalla of Warsaw, Poland.

He was a kind, gentle soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
