David Kenneth “Kenny” Hollingsworth, 83, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away on November 6, 2025, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville.

Kenny was born on February 8, 1942, in Flushing, Ohio. After graduating from Flushing High School, he served his country as an enlisted member of the U.S. Army and later as a reservist.

Kenny built a long and dedicated career with CSX Railroad, which took him from Ohio to Florida. He worked in Holloway, and Lima, Ohio, and later in Jacksonville, Florida, before retiring after more than 35 years of service. A long-time resident of Orange Park, Florida, Kenny recently relocated to Green Cove Springs.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Sandra “Sandy” Hollingsworth, and their daughters Doreen (Stefan) Hollingsworth, Jennifer (Ivin) Gunder, and Bethany (Michael) Walter. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Ivin II, and Isaiah Gunder, and Brantly, Madelyn, and Grayson Walter; his sister Debbie (Tom) Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Pearl Jordan and David A. Hollingsworth, and his brother John Francis Hollingsworth.

Kenny loved his family deeply. He and Sandy were inseparable, and together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion. Through his example, Kenny taught his children the importance of honesty, hard work, and commitment to family, faith, friends, and community. He encouraged them to explore their interests—from sports and music to the arts. He tolerated the multiple pets that both his wife and “girls” adopted over the years. Kenny took great pride in supporting his grandchildren as they pursued their own passions. He loved attending their activities and events.

A lifelong sports fan, Kenny enjoyed cheering for the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. One of his favorite summer pastimes was listening to Detroit Tigers games broadcast on the radio outdoors. He also loved country music—both the classics and newer artists—and could often be found relaxing to his favorite tunes.

Kenny was a devoted member of Switzerland Community Church, where his faith in Christ guided and sustained him. His church community held a special place in his heart.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 at 3:00pm in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Pastor Kevin King, Lead Pastor of Switzerland Community Church will be officiating.

Kenny will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and faith.
