Daniel P. Moore, Sr. tragically passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, in a motorcycle accident while riding with his grandson Steven in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dan was married to his beloved wife of 47 years Joyce (Benevides) Moore.
He was born in Somerset, MA and lived most of his life there, raising a family together with his wife Joyce. He was a lifelong big rig driver who took pride in his truck and was a dedicated and loyal employee. His passion for his family’s well-being always came before his own needs, as he worked tirelessly to provide for them. He was also a well-known karaoke DJ who played in several establishments across New England. He was the family DJ at all the gatherings no matter where they were held. He was very humble about his amazing voice, but everyone knew what a great singer he was.
He retired from truck driving in 2023 and moved to Florida to enjoy sunshine and the retired life as he so deserved. As Dan could not sit still for too long, he became a rideshare driver and found great joy in meeting new people and finding his way around Florida. Dan was well known and loved and had many, many friends, most of whom were lifelong friends.
He was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast, having owned many cycles throughout his lifetime. He was thrilled when Joyce took lessons and got her license and her own bike. He had a smile from ear to ear as they rode on trips together. They went to many Bike Weeks with friends to Daytona Beach and Sturgis.
Dan will forever be loved and immensely missed by all. He was a presence in any room and brought smiles and laughs performing antics with his grandchildren. Trips to Dunkin, jet skiing, playing pretend jack hammers are a few memories that he will leave.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Agnes Rita (Silvia) Moore and his brother Jimmy. In addition to his wife Joyce, Dan is survived by his sister Maryellen (Ed) Dutra, his brother Ray Sr (Cheryl), Daughters Hope Thibault, Rachel Williamson, Danielle Moore and son Daniel P Moore Jr. He is lovingly remembered by his eight grandsons, three granddaughters and several nephews and nieces. Dan was beloved by them and gave each one a special nickname.
Services will be held in Massachusetts at a later date.
