Connie Sue Arrington, age 65, peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on Thursday morning, July 5, 2024. Connie was chosen (adopted) by Reatha Durrance and Lorain Arrington on November 16, 1958 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Connie graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Political Science and Journalism. She later graduated with a Master’s of Divinity from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and would also go on to complete her Master’s of Education in Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Florida.
Connie worked as a mental health counselor, a teacher for students with special needs, and the Project Search director in Green Cove Springs, Florida. She was a proud member of the Vestry at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Green Cove Springs.
Her faith guided everything she did in life, from vocation to friendship to the way she raised her daughters. She enjoyed reading, writing, traveling, solitude, and contemplative moments by the St. Johns River. She also loved the outdoors, including daily walks and bike rides to Spring Park. But most of all, she loved spending time with her daughters, Shannon and Loribeth, and granddaughter, Aurora. The four of them recently took a memorable road trip to the Florida Keys and have taken many trips together over the years.
She will be remembered for her loving spirit, calming presence, kind heart, and listening ear. She is survived by her oldest daughter, Shannon Arrin Beaird (husband Matthew Rogers), her youngest daughter, Loribeth Beaird (husband Samuel Jones), and her granddaughter, Aurora. She is also survived by her sister, Lori Barker, and her brothers Clifford Arrington, Michael Titchenal, and Jonathan Titchenal.
Connie is preceded in death by adoptive mother, Reatha Durrance, her adoptive father, Lorain Arrington, her birth mother, Ann Yoder, and brother-in-law, Osborn Barker.
A service will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church (400 St Johns Ave) in Green Cove on Friday, July 12th at 11 AM with visitation from 10 - 11 AM. A reception will follow. Flowers can be sent to St. Mary’s Episcopal church.
