Clifford Marshall Long, 67, of Orange Park, Florida passed away, at home, in the loving arms of family on March 5, 2026.

Clifford was born in Jacksonville, FL on February 08, 1959. He was the fourth son born to Fred and Gloria Long. The family’s primary residence was Orange Park, Florida; however, as part of a Navy family, Clifford spent several years in Rhode Island as a toddler then moved to Argentia, Newfoundland when he was eight years old. After two years in the frigid North, the family returned to their home in Orange Park. Clifford was raised in the Lutheran faith along with his siblings. He participated in Scouting as well as various football programs and graduated from Orange Park High School in 1977. On March 24, 1978, at the tender age of nineteen, Clifford married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Moore and began an adventure lasting almost 49 years. After working as an Auto Mechanic at Firestone for 17 years, Clifford set up his own backyard shop and continued to twist wrenches until eventually going to work at Orange Park Tree Surgeons. He loved the work and stayed with the company for many years until his back decided the matter for him.

Some of Clifford’s interests and hobbies included: fishing, hunting and drag racing. His love for the great outdoors was apparent from an early age and fostered by the mentorship of his father and brothers. Clifford had an affinity for mechanics and a love of all things fast. He started with a dirtbike as a kid and never stopped racing!

Clifford is survived by his spouse Cheryl, sister Janet Shuster (Bud), brothers: Charles (Ann), David, sister-in-law Rosangela, children: Scott Giddens (Cathy), Christopher (Julie), Amanda (Craig); grandchildren: Christopher “Topher”, Clifford, Steven and Xander in addition to nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Gloria, and his brother Leslie.

Family visitation will begin at 9:00am and friends are invited to begin visitation from 10:00am until 11:00am, Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel in Green Cove Springs.
