Charlotte Maxine McLendon, (October 11, 1939 – August 3, 2025) more preciously known as “Ms. Charlotte,” age 85, passed from this world to the next, to be with our Lord and Savior, on August 3, 2025, after a series of illnesses that could not be overcome.
In her spare time, Charlotte could be found watching any and all types of sporting events: baseball (she loved the Atlanta Braves, girls’ softball and Little League), football (both pro and college), and car racing. In her leisure time, she loved word search, Stephen King novels, coloring, and spending time with her beloved grand dog Cash.
She began working at Prudential in Jacksonville, Florida; but spent the majority of her career as the Library Assistant at Middleburg Elementary in Clay County, Florida, where she retired. While at the library, she affectionately gained the name “Ms. Charlotte” by the students. She will be remembered by friends, faculty and students alike for her quick wit, smile and willingness to help others.
Most recently she had moved to the North Georgia mountains and enjoyed her senior apartment at Branan Lodge among friends and other seniors.
Surviving Charlotte are her two children: Charles “Chuckie” McLendon and Joyce McLendon Durden (Chris), as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and grand dog – Cash.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Black Pond Baptist Church in Middleburg, Clay County, Florida with Reverend Jason Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Black Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Black Pond Baptist Church in Charlotte’s honor and memory.
