Catherine F. Donovan (Murphy) of Fleming Island Florida, formerly of Holbrook and Easton MA and lovingly known to many as Kitty passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 31,2026 at the age of 78, after a brief illness.
Born on May 2,1947 in Boston MA. Kitty was greatly loved by her late mother Anna (McCarthy) Murphy/McKeon and her late father Frederick T. Murphy and her late stepfather James McKeon. None cherished her more than her husband of fifty-five years Paul A. Donovan and her two beautiful daughters Jennifer L. Donovan "Jen" and Kathleen M. Donovan "Katie". All who knew her knew she was the magnet that held our family together through thick and thin.
Kitty graduated from Dorchester high school in 1965 and worked as an executive secretary at the First National Bank of Boston until 1972. In the 1980s she first earned an L.P.N. certificate and worked at the Brockton V.A. hospital but soon returned to school and earned an associate’s degree in nursing, allowing her to become a licensed Registered Nurse.
A devoted wife and mother Kitty is survived by her husband Paul of Fleming Island, Florida and her daughter Katie of Fall River, MA and her brothers Frederick Murphy of Marshfield, James McKeon of Braintree, and Francis McKeon of Attleboro, along with her sister-in-law Kathy Donovan of Fort Myers FL and brother-in-law Jack Donovan of Corte Madera CA. She is predeceased by her daughter Jennifer of South Carolina and her siblings Geraldine "Penny" Furber, Anna Gates, Patricia "Patty" McKeon, and Michael McKeon.
She was an active member of Saint Catherin's Catholic Church in Orange Park, Florida and a longtime member of the Women of the Moose. She loved square dancing and belonged to the Moose Promenaders and the Clay Allemanders for a number of years. She also visited a number of other square dance clubs in the area. Kitty loved to play bingo at least once a week. She was an avid reader and would get two or three books a week from the library. Every day she would attack that wordle puzzle!
Her love for her family was immense, and she never missed an opportunity to make life a little better for all she came in contact with. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend to all that knew her.
