Carolyn Sue Newman, age 82 of Rockville, Indiana, passed away April 29, 2026 peacefully at the home of her family

She was born February 29, 1944 in Vermilion County, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Virginia Doan. She married the love of her life, James Newman, on January 23, 1968.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, gambling away gracefully at casinos, shopping until she dropped, and spoiling her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Newman, her parents, Arthur and Virginia Doan. Brothers, Jerry and wife Wanita Doan, Jack and wife Carol Doan, James and wife Judy Doan, John and wife Debbie Doan.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth and husband Mark Baysinger. Her children, Kellie Brandes, her son, James, and wife Misty Newman. Her grandchildren, AJ Danna, Shelby and husband Tommy Leretsis, Trevor and wife Jodi Newman, Megan and husband Marshall Redden, Kali Brandes, Mykah Newman, Caitlin DeWeese, and Jacob DeWeese. Great grandchildren, Mia Laxen, Calvin Laxen, Hunter Leretsis, Carson Newman, Penelope Letetsis, AJ Danna, Owen Newman, Warren Brandes, and Silas Redden.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Monday, May 11, 2026 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 3:00pm with Pastor Jim Joiner officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
