Carolyn Bailey Burroughs

Carolyn Bailey Burroughs, age 70, died peacefully surrounded by her family on October 12, 2021 at her home in Jacksonville, FL after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease (MSA). 

Carolyn was born on May 19, 1951 in Batesville, MS to Ben Townes Bailey, Sr and Mildred “Mickey” Griffin Bailey.  She was a graduate of Benoit Highschool and Delta State University in Mississippi.  Carolyn taught Special Education and technology for over 30 years before retiring in 2014 from Mandarin Middle School.  Carolyn’s talents were endless, she could sew, build, tech, craft or cook just about anything.  On September 2, 1972, she married Ron Burroughs, Sr. her high school sweetheart.  She loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren, they were her greatest joys. 

Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her mother, Mildred Bailey; her husband, Ron Burroughs, Sr; son, Ron Burroughs, Jr and wife, Rachel; daughter, Stephanie Kemp and husband Chris; granddaughters, Allie Burroughs, Ava Burroughs, Aubrey Kemp and Kinsley Burroughs; grandson, Christopher Kemp; brothers, Ben Bailey, Michael Bailey and Keith Bailey; sisters Patricia Bailey, Nan Blackmon and Burnice Eley; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Friday October 22nd at 2:30pm at the Christian Family Chapel Church located 10365 Old St Augustine Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32257.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jax Hope Inc, PO Box 2521, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32004 or Rock Steady Boxing program.
