Bob Simpson (lovingly known as Butterbean Bob), 83, of Fleming Island, FL, passed away November 1, 2017. He was born on April 23, 1934 in Bagdad, FL to parents Frank and Audrey (Penton) Simpson. Mr. Simpson retired from the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War. Following his military career he worked as a teacher. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening. He was a long time member of the Morocco Shrine and was involved in the Funsters as Butterbean Bob.He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sisters, Frances and Maxine. Survivors include his dear friend, former wife and her family, Alycia Crier; brother, Richard Simpson (Sylvia) and godson, Michael Plante.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 19, 2017 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Chaplain Samuel Bennett officiating. Full military honors will be given at the service. A reception will be held in the funeral home following the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Morocco Shrine, c/o General Fund, 3800 St. Johns Bluff Rd. South, Jacksonville, FL 32224.
