Billy Leroy Johns, Sr.

Billy Leroy Johns Sr., 86, of Orange Park, FL passed away peacefully on February 19, 2023. Born to Alvin E. and Vivian G. Johns (Griffin) on March 24, 1936 in Chattahoochee, Florida. He graduated from Chattahoochee High School and attended Florida State University. Known as BL, Dad, and Granddad, he was a member of 103rd Street Baptist Church and was a proud railroad man for 40+ years having worked for Seaboard Coastline (currently known as CSX). BL’s favorite pastimes were spending time with family, playing with the grandchildren, watching “Pickers”, listening to Gospel music and watching college football.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra J. Johns (Garland) of Orange Park, FL; sons, Billy (Tabbatha) Johns, Mark Johns, Ben (Lisa) Johns, Max (Kate) Johns; former daughters-in-law, Jill Johns and Gretchen Johns; sister-in-law, Bonnie Pineda; grandchildren, Mikki Johns, Casee Johns, Tyler Garland, Madison Johns, Kennedy Johns, Sebastian Pineda, Sawyer Johns, Josiah Johns, Christopher Johns, Samuel Johns, Silas Johns; and great-grandchildren, Julian Callaway, Fallyon Pineda and Ember Pineda. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Vivian Johns.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at the 103rd Street Baptist Church (8819 103rd Street, Jacksonville, FL) with funeral services at 11:00am officiated by Rev. James Turner. Burial following at Jacksonville Memory Gardens (111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL).
