Betty Jean Yeager

Betty Jean Yeager, 81, of Middleburg, FL passed away at home surrounded by loving family on May 26th, 2023.  She was born in Middleburg, Florida on September 22, 1941 to the late Ernest and Donna (Padgett) Hatcher.

Betty worked for the Clay County School Board Department of Transportation where she retired after 23 years of service.  She was married to Donald Van Yeager, until his passing in 2009, for 50 years.  Betty enjoyed being outside and working in the yard, races, sewing, shopping, gardening, and reading.

She will be remembered for her love, warm heart, and smile. Her laugh, generosity, being a good listener and honest person. She loved all of her animals and everyone else’s as well.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Hatcher and Donna (Padgett) Hatcher; brothers, Homer Lee Hatcher and Mackey Hatcher; sisters, Helen Padgett, Gloria Raleigh, Hilda Smith, Annie Lou Salyer and Geraldine Bishop; son, Kelly Donald Yeager; grandson, Jason Shayne Jones and great-grandson, Carson Byrne.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Furlong (Dale) of St. Augustine, FL; son, Daniel Van Yeager (Christine) of Middleburg, FL; daughter, Nancy Graddy (Larry) of Stephens City, VA; sisters, Ginger Rye and Hattie Bell Scott of Middleburg, FL; brothers, Harold Hatcher and Robert (Bobby) Hatcher of Middleburg, FL; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, Ryan Furlong (Ariel) with Daniel, Stacy Young (Austin), Kristen Bame (Brian) with Coralie and Colton, Amanda Anderson (Travis) with Hunter and Annaleigh, Jeremy Wayne Jones (Samantha Perry) with Mason, Austin, Joy, Aiden, Jason Shayne Jones with Jase, Kaila Russo (Sam), Jessica Watson (Keith) with John Luke, Jonathon Byrne (Shelby) with Cody and Carson and Joshua Byrne (Jess Satkowiak) with Jordan; along with multiple nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023 at Holly Hill Memorial Park with Chaplain Brent Beaird officiating.

Betty’s favorite color was yellow. The family requests that you include some small token of yellow in your attire.

This is a graveside service only. A memorial gathering/meal will be announced at a later date
