Benjamin Hill Ross, 86, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Born in Eufaula, Alabama, on July 19, 1939, Benjamin was the son of the late Charles Robert Ross and Estelle Coleman Ross. After graduating from Eufaula High School, he answered the call to serve his country, embarking on a distinguished 20-year career in the United States Navy, from which he retired as a Chief Petty Officer. His commitment to naval aviation continued into civilian life, where he spent another 23 years as a Civil Service Quality Assurance Analyst at the Naval Aviation Depot.

Benjamin was a man of community and tradition. He was a proud member of the Freemasons, a dedicated church deacon, and served his neighbors for many years as an HOA board member. He was also a proud, lifelong member of the NRA.

Beyond his structured service, Benjamin lived life with a vibrant, creative energy. He was a talented musician who loved playing guitar in his band, The Blue River Travelers, and took great pride in writing, recording, and publishing music. An adventurer at heart, he loved riding his Goldwing motorcycle and deep-sea fishing, and he frequently enjoyed spending time at the gun range.

Benjamin never met a stranger. He was a fantastic storyteller, a man of steadfast integrity, and a jack-of-all-trades who had the rare ability to fix absolutely anything. Above all, he will be remembered as a fiercely loyal protector who possessed a deep, unwavering love and devotion for his family.

Benjamin was married to the love of his life, Alice Faye Davis Ross, for 65 beautiful years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Estelle Ross, and his brother, James Michael "Mickey" Ross.

His legacy of love and integrity lives on through his survivors, his beloved wife, Alice Faye Davis Ross; his children, Natalie (Patrick) and Angela (Adam) (Rick); his grandchildren, Zachary, Carson, Matthew, Mason, and Justin; along with his brother, Charles "Bob".

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:30pm on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
