Anita Marie Alleyne

January 16, 1944 — July 19, 2021

Anita Marie Alleyne, 77, of Fleming Island, FL passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 19, 2021. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Anita was born on January 16, 1944 in New York City, NY. She was the third of four siblings born to her parents, Cecil and Catherine Bush (nee Sullivan).

A graduate of William Cullen Bryant High School and Plaza Business School in Long Island City, NY, she also completed courses in Personnel Management at Marymount College in NY. Anita was selected and trained by her employer, The Travelers Insurance Company, to be a hostess and guide at their pavilion during the 1964 World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows Park, NY.

Anita worked as a Human Resource Specialist for CBS (Columbia Broadcast System), Inc, in New York City and retired in 2005 after thirty-five years of exemplary service.

She enjoyed bowling, Broadway plays, dance recitals, travel, fine dining and especially Doo Wop music and concerts. Following her retirement and relocation to Florida, she was introduced to the game of Mah Jong and became an avid participant. Her very special group of friends met weekly to play for over fifteen years.

Anita was gifted with the ability to bring light, joy and laughter to any situation. Her infectious smile and positive attitude endeared her to everyone. She will be well remembered for her kindness, warmth and generosity.

Anita is preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Leroy Alleyne.

She is survived by her sisters Cecile Bush and Cathy Woods; brother John Bush; stepbrother Tony Diodato; sisters-in-law Yvonne Bush and Joan Diodato; stepson Lars Alleyne; stepdaughter Lidia Clemons; nieces Tura Woods, Detra Davis, Nicole Rooks; nephews Aaron Woods, Eric Bush, and Reuben Bush, and Aaron Diodato, as well as a host of friends and relatives.

A memorial mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fleming Island, FL at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 with Father Sebastian Garcia officiating.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
