Amanda McCary Stewart, 52, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
She was born on November 9, 1972, in Orange, Texas, to Charlotte and Rick McCary. Amanda attended Rapid City Central High School in South Dakota and later graduated from William Carey’s School of Nursing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She dedicated over a decade of her life to serving others as a Critical Care Registered Nurse and went on to become the Director of Medical/Surgical and Women’s and Children’s Services.
Amanda was a loving wife to Scott Stewart and the proud mother of three children. She was known for her incredible cooking—especially her red beans and rice—and for her contagious laugh and delightful sense of humor. To her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “Big Mama,” a role she cherished deeply.
Amanda was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her two daughters, Leigh (Lee) Fried Jr. She is survived by her husband, Scott Stewart; her parents, Charlotte and Rick McCary; her brother, Matthew McCary; her children, Alyssa Anderson, Emilee Tucker, and Jacob Fountain; and her grandchildren, Elliott Tucker, Leigha Anderson, and Hazel Tucker. She also leaves behind her beloved miniature schnauzer, Stanley.
While no formal service is planned at this time, Amanda will be deeply remembered by all who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Amanda’s memory through simple acts of kindness—offering a helping hand, sharing a meal, or bringing a little light to someone’s day.
