Shirley S. Elder, 67, passed away October 5, 2010. She had retired from Jacksonville Shipyards as an administrative assistant following 25 years of service. Shirley was predeceased by her parents and a son, Kenneth J. “Kenny” Elder, Jr. She is survived by son, Gregory J. Elder of Pineville, NC, his father, Kenneth J. Elder, Sr. of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Kamryn and Zachary Elder of Pineville, NC; brothers, Otto Sigmund, Herbert Sigmund, Eugene Sigmund, all of Jacksonville, and Dan Sigmund of Cummings, GA. A memorial service will held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Deermeadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Rd. with Dr. Michael Riley officiating.
