Valorie Short, 30, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away alongside her loving father on May 3, 2016. She was born on February 14, 1986 in Jacksonville, FL to parents Welland “Buddy” and Kaye (McDavid) Short. Valorie loved life, singing, dancing and being around the water. She worked as a hairstylist at Keeping It Classy Hair and Nail Salon in Green Cove Springs and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Palatka Lodge #184. Above all else her boys were the love of her life. Survivors include her mother, Kaye Short; sons, Caiden and Dillon Weeks; sister, Holly McLendon (Cody); grandmothers, Alma Short and Betty Bennett (Ray); grandfather, Thomas McDavid (Linda); uncles, Jeff Short and Marvin Short (Mary); aunt, Renee Allen and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, May 9, 2016 at Black Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Baker officiating. Visitation will be in the church from 10:00 am until service time. Burial will follow in Black Creek Cemetery.
