Welland “Buddy” Short, Jr., 55, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away alongside his loving daughter, Valorie Short on May 3, 2016. He was born on January 18, 1961 in Jacksonville, FL to parents Welland and Alma (Everett) Short. Buddy was Vice-President of Jeff’s Excavating Inc. in Green Cove Springs, FL and had attended Black Creek Baptist Church. He had been on the Green Cove Springs Volunteer Fire Department and loved working at the Green Cove Springs Dragway. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and especially spending time with is grandsons, family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Kaye Short; mother, Alma Short; daughter, Holly McLendon (Cody); brothers, Jeff Short and Marvin Short (Mary); sister-in-law, Yessenia and grandchildren, Mason McLendon and Caiden and Dillon Weeks and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, May 9, 2016 at Black Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Baker officiating. Visitation will be in the church from 10:00 am until service time. Burial will follow in Black Creek Cemetery.
