SFC Verlin Haslett, USA, Ret., 69, left us on November 21st, 2015 with his wife and children at his bed side in Jacksonville, Florida. Verlin was born on December 18th, 1945 in St. Elmo, Illinois to Robert and Maude Haslett. He is one of nineteen children, several preceding him. Verlin has been married for 51 years to his loving wife Marcia Haslett. Verlin and Marcia have two children, Shanna Breen (Kenny), James Haslett (Betsy), and four grandchildren Marissa Haslett (21), Andy Lonsdale (12), Lincoln Haslett (5), and Anthony Breen (4). Verlin and Marcia are expecting a fifth grandchild in January. Verlin proudly served twenty one years in the United States Army. Verlin moved to the local area in 2011 from Lebanon, Illinois and was very passionate about his faith and family, however, his strongest passion was for his grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Monday, November 30, 2015 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, November 30, 2015 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218.
