Mrs. Doris Irene Pinkney, 85, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Friday, November 14, 2008. She was born on January 3, 1923 in Norton, Hertfordshire, England to parents, Sidney and Caroline Pettit. Mrs. Pinkney was a homemaker and had served in the British Army. She was a WWII bride and loved to knit, for which she won many ribbons. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and will be remembered as a great mom by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Pinkney and by her sister, Margaret Jenkins. Survivors include her children, Carol A. Kibler (Paul), Robert J. Pinkney (Mary), John R. Pinkney (Mary Ethel), Mark Pinkney and Kenneth J. Pinkney; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Final services and interment will take place at Grace Cemetery, Castile, NY.
